VATSIM Information

As a recommendation, all Arabian Airlines pilots who are able to are asked to do as many of their flights as possible on the VATSIM network. VATSIM stands for the Virtual Air Traffic Simulation Network, and is dedicated to maintaining a realistic flying environment where thousands of pilots and air traffic controllers can come together and interact with one another, providing an environment that is analogous to the real world.

To fly on VATSIM, pilots must have their own specialized VATSIM ID number, which can be obtained by registering at www.VATSIM.net. The registration process is absolutely free, and all the required software is available for download on the VATSIM website.

Arabian Airlines pilots flying on the VATSIM network are to abide by the VATSIM Rules of Conduct, and fly only the aircraft they are rated to fly; pilots found flying aircraft that are beyond their category will be questioned. Keep in mind that Arabian Airlines takes its operations very seriously, and any violations on the VATSIM network will be investigated by our operations personnel. Arabian Airlines considers any ARB call sign on the VATSIM network to be an official airline flight.

Below is some common information that our pilots will find useful for flying on VATSIM.

Notes on Specific Airports

As in the real world, procedures for different airports on the VATSIM network can vary greatly, and it is advised that all pilots study the procedures of their departure and arrival airports thoroughly before proceeding to the flight deck.

Many Virtual Air Control Centers (vACCs) and Divisions on VATSIM have websites that detail specific operational procedures for their respective airports. All VATSIM vACC and Division websites can be found by visiting www.VATSIM.net.

As a quick reference, the links to the VATSIM Jordanian vACC and the Emirates vACC have been provided below.

VATJO: www.vatjo.net
Emirates vACC: www.emirates-vacc.org

Both of these vACCs are part of the VATSIM Africa and Middle East Division, where Arabian conducts over 80% of its operations. Their website is located at www.vatame.net.

General Tips
In your comments section of the flight plan you are required to place the following information:

Aircraft Type  |  Panel/Model You are using  |  Aircraft Registration |  Charts (yes or no) |  Any Weather add-ons (ActiveSky, etc) |  Any Sceneries you are using |  Number of Passengers and Crew (xxxPAX + xxCREW) | VOICE = ARABIAN

This information is essential to the delivery / ground / tower controller when they verify your flight information.

Though this may seem a bit excessive, it is helpful to the Arabian Airlines Operations Staff who track VATSIM operations live on the network. This information is essential to ensuring that flights are using the correct equippment, and are also helpful for conducting research projects to see what kind of software our pilots prefer to use for their flights.

If you have any suggestions for our VATSIM Operations, please do not hesitate to contact our Head of VATSIM Operations by clicking on our Staff Roster page.
